AODBT Olfert Dressel Burnyeat Tracey Architects Ltd. was established in 1980.
The initial vision of the senior partners was of a firm comprising specialized
individuals working as a team to provide quality architectural services to clients
through all stages of the design and construction process. By working with this
philosophy and a commitment to client service the firm grew rapidly, and by 1985
was one of the largest firms in the province. By 1988 key partners had been
recruited to be responsible for each aspect of the work on an ongoing basis. The
firm has maintained a base of dedicated staff with key shareholders responsible for
design, cost estimates, code compliance, specifications and contract administration.
This specialization is combined with a commitment for each project from one of the
principals to be directly responsible to the client. Our aim is to provide the
dedication, enthusiasm and personal commitment of a small company together with the
capacity, dependability and specialization afforded by a larger organization.
Specialized facilities have always been a primary focus of our firm. In many
cases this involves a complex client group with various stakeholders. Projects
in Prince Albert such as the Satellite Station, the Saskatchewan Penitentiary
renovations and the Ecole Valois Francophone Education and Community Activity Centre
involved a variety of groups, each with special needs and different requirements
for building access and security. Other facilities in Saskatoon such as the $14m
Agriculture Canada Research facilities and the $12m Sherbrooke Community Centre
Village & Veterans Facilities project involve complex negotiations with various user
groups and varying hours of operation.

AODBT has also worked extensively with representatives of the First Nations
groups on projects such as the Wanuskewin Heritage park which involve many
first nations and elders as well as with several individual member bands of
the Prince Albert Tribal Council.
Our Prince Albert office also includes three Interior Designers, Leslie
Blacklock, Paula Sundbo and Janice Mindiuk. Interior designers have been an integral
part of the AODBT planning process 1992. The result has been a balance between
aesthetic considerations and the requirements for durability and cost control.
This is accomplished by including the specification writer/estimator with the
interior designers at an early stage in the design process and maintaining their
involvement through the contract administration stage which is managed by
professional engineer Peter Tracey.
